GENEVA, 03 April 2025 / PRN Africa / -- The UN Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (CMW) will hold its fortieth session from 7 April to 17 April, during which it will review Jamaica, Mexico and Niger.

The three countries are among the 60 States parties to the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families. They are required to undergo regular reviews by the Committee of 14 independent international experts on how they are implementing the Convention.

The Committee, which has received respective country reports as well as submissions from national human rights institutions and non-governmental organisations, will discuss a range of issues in public dialogues with the three State delegations on the following dates at Geneva time:

Mexico

7 April 15:00 - 18:00

8 April 10:00 - 13:00

Niger

8 April 15:00 - 18:00

9 April 10:00 - 13:00

Jamaica

9 April 15:00 - 18:00

10 April 10:00 - 13:00

The Committee will also organise a public side event on 15 April from 15:00 to 17:00, for the launch of its General Comment No 6 (2024) on the convergent protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families through the Convention and the Global Compact for safe, orderly, and regular migration.
