NIO’s October Surge: Record Deliveries Meet Market Skepticism

05.11.2025 - 06:14:03

Strategic Expansion Bears Fruit

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NIO announced staggering delivery figures for October 2025, reporting 40,397 vehicles delivered—a remarkable 92% year-over-year increase. Despite this operational milestone, investor reaction proved mixed, with shares initially climbing before retreating, highlighting ongoing concerns about the company's path to sustainable profitability.

The record performance stems directly from NIO's multi-brand approach gaining significant traction across market segments. For the first time, the mass-market Onvo brand surpassed NIO's premium line with 17,342 deliveries, narrowly exceeding the premium segment's 17,143 units. The newer Firefly brand contributed an additional 5,912 vehicles to the monthly total.

Particularly impressive is the sustained performance of the Onvo L90 SUV, which has exceeded 10,000 monthly deliveries for three consecutive months since its late July launch. This consistent demand demonstrates the model's rapid market acceptance and competitive positioning.

Year-to-date figures further underscore this growth trajectory, with cumulative deliveries reaching 241,618 vehicles—representing a solid 42% increase compared to the same period last year.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nio?

Investor Caution Tempers Enthusiasm

Market response to these operational achievements remained cautious. Following a 2.34% advance on Monday, NIO shares retreated by 1.50% on Tuesday, reflecting persistent investor concerns about when robust growth will translate into consistent profitability.

The upcoming Q3 2025 earnings report, scheduled for mid-November, is anticipated to provide crucial insights. Market participants will scrutinize whether increased sales volumes are generating improved margins or if NIO continues prioritizing market share acquisition over bottom-line results.

This divergence between operational success and financial market performance underscores the critical challenge facing NIO: demonstrating that expanding delivery numbers can effectively convert into sustainable profitability in the competitive electric vehicle landscape.
