While its share price has experienced significant volatility, Canadian exploration company Apex Critical Metals is methodically advancing its operational strategy. The firm has completed a crucial preparatory phase at its flagship Rift Rare Earth project in Nebraska, paving the way for a pivotal exploration period anticipated to begin in early 2026.
A key operational achievement involves the re-cataloging and sampling of historical drill cores at the Nebraska site. These core samples, originally drilled by Molycorp in the 1970s and 1980s and preserved by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, provide Apex with a substantial strategic benefit. Access to this historical data allows for a contemporary geological assessment without the immediate need for costly new drilling campaigns.
The company has sent the collected samples to Actlabs for analysis. Investors are now awaiting the laboratory results, which are expected in the first quarter of 2026. These findings will inform the subsequent phase: the commencement of Apex's own drilling program, scheduled for early in that same year.
Financial Resilience Amid Market Volatility
Recent trading activity tells a different story from the operational progress. The equity has faced downward pressure, declining more than 15% over the past seven trading sessions. At a current price of 1.34 euros, the shares trade considerably below their 52-week high of 3.00 euros. However, a longer-term perspective remains favorable, with the stock still showing a gain of approximately 114% since the start of the year.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Apex Critical Metals?
Fundamentally, the company appears well-positioned to fund its upcoming plans. A capital raise completed in October 2025 injected $10 million into its treasury. This financial cushion is critical for funding the planned 2026 drilling programs at both the Rift project and its Canadian asset, the Cap Project, without encountering near-term liquidity constraints. To bolster its market profile, Apex has also launched a marketing initiative, allocating roughly one million Canadian dollars toward investor relations activities.
A Second Strategic Asset in Canada
Parallel to its U.S. endeavors, Apex is advancing its Cap Project in British Columbia. The 2025 drilling program there confirmed a significant niobium discovery. Furthermore, a magnetic anomaly verified in November underscores the potential of this carbonate system. Niobium, like the rare earth elements targeted in Nebraska, is classified as a critical mineral essential for modern technologies.
With its treasury replenished and preliminary work concluded, the company's focus shifts decisively to Q1 2026. The impending assay results from Nebraska will serve as the first major indicator, revealing whether the historical data meets contemporary standards and validates the high expectations for the deposit's potential.
