Güglingen, 16 September 2025 – The international solar specialist hep solar is expanding its activities in Europe and has now entered the Italian market. This marks another strategically important step for the company from Güglingen, which is already active in Germany and Poland. Over the next two years, hep solar plans to develop a pipeline of 400 to 500 MWp in solar and energy storage projects across Italy. The first sites and projects have already been secured. “By entering the Italian market, we are consistently pursuing our strategy of strengthening our focus on Europe,” says Martin Vogt, Global Head of Project Development at hep solar. “Italy is one of the most dynamic solar markets in Europe, with ambitious growth targets and strong demand for photovoltaic and storage solutions. For hep solar, this not only presents an opportunity to expand our presence in Europe but also contributes significantly to the geographical diversification of our project portfolio.” Italy is currently the fourth-largest solar market in the EU and has set ambitious targets for photovoltaic and energy storage systems, known as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). In 2024, the country reached an installed solar capacity of 36 GW. By 2030, PV is expected to account for more than half of the renewable electricity generation capacity, reaching 79 GW. This growing demand is driven by high electricity prices, a push for energy independence, and government incentives such as feed-in tariffs, Renewable Energy Certificates and tax incentives.
